We know that mobile ultrasound may be a new experience for some clinics and clients. This section covers common questions about our services, what to expect during an appointment, and how to prepare your patients or pets. If you don’t see your question here, we’re happy to help directly.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is determined by the referring clinic. Our goal is to keep services accessible so more pets can benefit from advanced diagnostics without needing to travel. Please contact your clinic directly for specific pricing information.

Does the animal need to be sedated?

Sedation is not always required, but it can improve image quality and reduce stress for the patient. In many cases, mild sedation allows the scan to be completed with just one additional handler. Recommendations are made on a case-by-case basis.

How long does an ultrasound take?

Most ultrasound exams take approximately 30 minutes, though timing can vary based on the type of scan and the patient’s needs.

How many people are needed to assist with restraint?

Ideally, two people should be available to assist with gentle restraint, usually a veterinary technician and an assistant. Your clinic will determine the safest and most comfortable setup for the patient.

Can pet owners be present during the scan?

Pet owners are welcome to be present if the clinic feels it is appropriate. Each hospital may have different policies, so we leave this decision to your veterinary team.

Do pets need to fast before the ultrasound?

Fasting for 6 to 8 hours is typically recommended for abdominal ultrasounds to improve image clarity. Your clinic will provide specific instructions based on the type of scan scheduled.
